Remember When

On my way into work today, I stopped at a convenient store to get some gas and check the air in the tires. So when I finished filling up with gas, I headed over to the side of the store, where the air hose is usually located. Sure enough, there was the air hose with a built in pressure guage and a coin slot. Yes, a coin slot. It was actually going to cost 75 cents for me to check the air in my tires. After paying way to much for gas, I’ll be damned if I was going to pay 75 cents to check the air in my tires. That got me to thinking about the way it used to be. Todays generation probably can’t remember a time when you pulled into a gas station, had somebody greet you and ask you how much gas you wanted, then proceed to pump the gas for you, clean your windows and at least ask if you wanted your oil checked. And air was FREE! So I’m wondering if convenient stores are really that convenient. You have to pump your own gas, pay for air, clean your own windows and if you purchase anything inside of the convenient store, you pay inflated prices. Doesn’t sound very convenient to me.
