It was a good opportunity to try some new techniques using toilet paper as a fabric. I’m pretty pleased with the results, decided to keep the display on this one pretty simple.

The body and and paint were in excellent condition, so I thought about just throwing some new wheels on it and calling it finished, but that would be too easy. Instead, I decided to make it look like it’s been sitting outside in the elements for about 30 years, just waiting to be restored. This was a fun one, I hope that you enjoy the video. More coming soon!

VW Beetle Steering Wheel Button Clock

VW Beetle Steering Wheel ClockVW Beetle Steering Wheel ClockVW Beetle Steering Wheel ClockVW Beetle Steering Wheel ClockVW Beetle Steering Wheel ClockVW Beetle Steering Wheel ClockVW Beetle Steering Wheel ClockI’ve been wanting to add a clock somewhere in the interior of Mabel forever, just couldn’t find the right looking clock and I surely didn’t want to use one of those stick on digital clocks. I did find one on Amazon (link is in the description of the video) which was suitable and I just stuck it to the speaker grill. I immediately hated it and began looking for other locations to put the clock. The steering wheel button became the perfect spot! Though you can buy the center cap with a clock installed, I thought it’d be a lot of fun to make my own.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Faces

Samsung Galaxy Watch FacesSamsung Galaxy Watch FacesI have two Samsung Galaxy watches, a Gear S3 Frontier and a Active 2. I recently began playing around with the Samsung Watch Design software and these are the first couple that I’ve come up with. I used the Jeep Gladiator watch face on my Active 2 and the vintage VW speedometer on my Gear S3. If you’re interested in these, please let me know and I’ll send you the .tpk files. These have not been uploaded to the Galaxy Store, you have to have the software to upload them to your watch. More to come soon!

Added another, a 1968 VW speedometer with odometer displaying time and day of the month. Also includes steps and heart rate.

Some were gifts from my daughter and son-in-law. I can’t wait to mount the display that they got me to house my Sweet Sixteen cars. As you can tell, we’re particularly fond of die cast VW’s.

I’ve been wanting to do this repair for a couple of years now. The only thing not working properly on Mabel was the brake warning light. This configuration is specific for the 1968 and 1969 year Beetles. So today was the day to dig into it and figure out why it wasn’t working. This project turned out to be a lot easier than I had anticipated and it was really a simple fix. Enjoy the video, hope it gives you some ideas and clarity.

One Last Update To The Poor Man’s Swamp Cooler

Poor Mans Swamp CoolerPoor Mans Swamp CoolerPoor Mans Swamp CoolerPoor Mans Swamp CoolerAfter taking a closer look at the finished product and thinking it over for a few days, I decided to paint the brace for the swamp cooler the same color as the cooler itself. If I didn’t like it, I could easily revert right back to the blue. But after it was painted, there was no doubt in my mind that the brace looks 100 times better painted the same color as the cooler.
