Remodel Complete

Many of you have asked about the progress of our kitchen/living room remodel. It’s been over a month since I’ve posted any pictures, so I’m happy to report that the remodel is complete. We still have a couple of odds and ends to take care of, but for the most part, it’s complete. We still need to find a couple of end tables and coffee table (we’re using our old ones for now), install the canister light inserts and that’s pretty much it. It’s been a long process since we started in mid September, working only weekends and evenings when weather permitted, but we’re happy with the results. It’s much more inviting and a great place to lounge around. Next on the agenda is the upstairs bathroom.

Usable Kitchen Once Again!

So, after 2 and a half months, we have a usable kitchen once again and Lenora has already started moving thing back in. This week we finished the tile work, grout and sealing, got the sink installed and the hardware on the cabinets. At least now, she can cook when she wants too. Lenora also wallpapered the one and only wall in the living room that will have wallpaper. We ordered a new leather couch for the living room from Big Sandy, but when it was delivered on Wednesday, it had a couple of damaged areas on it, so it sits in pieces in the living room until they deliver a new one today (hopefully). We still have a lot of trim to paint and install, window treatments, etc., but it won’t be long now and we can call this project complete.!

Side by side comparison from 9/19/2013 to 12/14/2013:

Kitchen/Living Room Remodel Update

Haven’t posted any updates for the past few days, but that doesn’t mean that we haven’t been busy. We took advantage of the long Thanksgiving weekend and got all of the cabinets in place. The past few days have been spent prepping the counter tops for tile. Three quarter inch plywood and half inch backer board. Hole is cut for the sink, so now it’s time to tile. Hopefully, we’ll start with the tile Saturday evening. Lenora also picked out the wallpaper for the one and only wall that will have wallpaper instead of paint. Once the counter tops are finished and wallpaper up, it’s just a matter of finishing the trim (baseboards and crown molding…..the end is near!

Remodel Coming Together

Another busy weekend, trying to get as much done as possible. Crown molding is going up, all of the lights are up now, we began assembly of Lenora’s custom shelves, dry fitting the cabinets and plotting our next plan of attack. Unfortunately, the sink cabinet had to be returned to Lowes, once we unboxed it, we noticed that it had been damaged. It’s been exchanged, so hopefully we’ll be starting on the tile counter top and backsplash very soon. The new stove/oven is in place, so things are finally starting to come together….still have a lot to do…

Kitchen and Living Room Remodel Update

We made a lot of progress Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Lenora got the final coat of paint on the walls, we finished “stomping” the ceiling, installed the new floor in the kitchen and got the new fan installed in the kitchen. Next up is the crown molding, baseboards and cabinets. We’re finally starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
